Agricultural Land Drainage

Land Drainage

Successful drainage of agricultural land and fields requires planning, experience, accuracy and skilled operators.

Les Cotton Contractors Ltd will give you all of these starting with a site survey to take accurate levels and measurements from which a drainage plan and estimate is prepared for your approval.

Accurate installation is carried out by skilled operators on the latest supertrenchers using laser grading equipment supported by operators on stone carts, back fillers and junction excavators.

Ditching

Maintenance of ditches is essential if land drainage is to remain effective. Les Cotton Contractors Ltd uses laser grading with its tracked excavators to ensure a constant even gradient from ditch source to outfall including the installation of ditch pipes under road and field accesses.

Many times when installing new underdrainage systems we have discovered upto three comprehensive systems of a similar design in the same field! These systems had been "lost" due to a lack of ditch maintenance coupled with absence of a detailed plan (often lost when land changes hands). A ditch maintenance scheme when taking over a new farm can often save a considerable amount of money.

Amenity and Conservation Projects

Ponds, reservoirs and natural landscaping are skilfully created to blend in with the local environment whilst care is taken not to disrupt the existing natural habitat. Our highly experienced excavator drivers can skillfully landscape new ponds and lakes so that as the vegetation returns they quickly merge into the landscape and blend with adjoining habitats.
